On my block in Somerville, MA there were 2 churches and old police headquarters/jail that were converted to condos and they were gorgeous!the Frugal Ecologisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05007753245445039830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718146618187718643.post-18449577349377680882011-06-17T20:18:51.368-04:002011-06-17T20:18:51.368-04:00Yes. I didn't like living in Macungie, near Allentown, but that was 30 years ago, and communities do grow and develop:).LPChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18209861350905135093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718146618187718643.post-13154570066132852062011-06-17T15:54:30.081-04:002011-06-17T15:54:30.081-04:00Nick's aunt and uncle live in Bethlehem, and w...Nick's aunt and uncle live in Bethlehem, and we've often said that we would move there in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself. Almost every time we visit, we ride our bikes along the Lehigh River that overlooks some of the industrial architecture you're referring to in this post. (Oh, and the bike ride typically ends at a great little brewery.) Also, Bethlehem hosts an AMAZING music festival each August (http://www.musikfest.org/). You and T would totally love it.Emily (The Culinary Couple)https://www.blogger.com/profile/06298998305737012144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718146618187718643.post-11097084711327209652011-06-17T13:46:29.462-04:002011-06-17T13:46:29.462-04:00I love this! I was an architecture major in college (I just graduated- putting that in past tense was WEIRD!) and adaptive-reuse was always one of my favorite things to learn about. Last fall one of my classes spent a lot of time looking at adaptive-reuse projects in Richmond. I think they're so cool!Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12618987087522956540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718146618187718643.post-6212549933546281032011-06-17T13:03:24.387-04:002011-06-17T13:03:24.387-04:00Excellent post. It's an old brewery that was abandoned for like 25 or 30 years that they have turned into a work/live/play concept. It's home to our CIA campus, farmers markets, a yoga studio and lots of restaurants. It was in walking distance of my old house, and I spent many a Saturday afternoon there.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04363285378662330939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4718146618187718643.post-31615323347535161032011-06-17T12:21:08.763-04:002011-06-17T12:21:08.763-04:00How awesome!
