Some friendly tidbits from the local weather folks:
- "We are living through some of the most extreme winter weather we'll ever experience in the metro region this morning."
- "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THIS MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON. LIFE THREATENING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS HAVE DEVELOPED RAPIDLY ACROSS THE BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON REGION THIS MORNING."
- "There are hazardous walking conditions throughout the region. It is recommended that you stay indoors unless absolutely necessary."
- "YOU CAN QUICKLY BECOME DISORIENTED IN WIND-DRIVEN SNOW AND COLD." (okay, I added the hypen there, because I'm a hyphen-Nazi like that.)
You get the idea. And I dare not call the moving company and ask when our stuff is getting here now. Since I can offer nothing else, here are a few photos of my whiteout view from the home office:

That snow on your patio is ridiculous!!
I hope that balcony was designed to accommodate the weight of all that snow... and/or the snow is not heavy. Looks bleak. When do the Olympics start? At least you can sit around and watch that all day if it is soon.
Just when you want to be all cozy. Sigh.
I want to come be snowed in, too! I'm sick and twisted and actually enjoy a good blizzard, although I'm sure I'd be straight up stir crazy after about 48 hours.
Cripes. We're getting a whopping 4" in Boston - seems like we are reversed this year. From your photos, looks like you guys have some crazy drifting going on there too. Not fun to shovel. Hope you don't have to do any of that.
Sorry for the crappy welcome to the city! But at least you can say you were here for DC breaking the all-time record for snow in a season! I didn't go outside either..I'm hoping that all the wind blew the snow off of my car, ha.
Such an adventure! You and T will always remember this :) you'll tell the story to your little ones should you opt to add additional citizens (freckled or otherwise) to your lands.
You should make a snow-Maggie and snow-Trevor out on your patio! (when the dangerous blizzard wind dies down)
I'm sure you've ventured out to explore your surroundings a bit even with the snow, but feel free to email me if you need to find a decent take-out place or cheap kitchen stuff. DC is notorious for not handling snow very well, so you may be stuck inside for a while. On the plus side, it's a magical place under all that white stuff.
I feel for you! I cannot imagine moving during this mess. I live in Arlington and am so over all of the snow and wind and cold. Hope your moving truck arrives soon :)
